In a magnificent display, Bangladesh secured their place in the semifinals of the SAFF Women's Championship, triumphing over a strong India team with a 3-1 victory in their final Group A match held today (Wednesday) at the Dasharath Rangasala Stadium in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Forward Tohura Khatun shone brightly, scoring two goals, while Afeida Khandakar contributed a third for the Bangladeshi squad, who dominated much of the match.

With this win, Bangladesh advances to face the Group B runners-up in the first semifinal on October 27 at the same venue. India, having already confirmed their semifinal spot, will compete against the Group B champions later that day.

The first half saw all four goals scored, beginning with Bangladesh's early dominance. They missed a clear chance in the 4th minute when Shamsunnahar Jr. failed to convert an open-net opportunity following a cross from Maria Manda.

Bangladesh broke the deadlock in the 19th minute when Afeida Khandakar capitalized on a corner taken by Sabina Khatun, sending a right-footed shot into the net after Indian goalkeeper Chanu mishandled the ball.

The pressure continued, and Bangladesh doubled their lead in the 29th minute due to a defensive error from India. An Indian defender mishandled a cross, allowing Tohura Khatun to deflect the ball into the net from close range.

Tohura, named Player of the Match for her outstanding performance, extended Bangladesh's lead to 3-0 in the 42nd minute. Following a coordinated attack, she fired a powerful right-footed shot from the edge of the box, assisted by Shamsunnahar Jr.

Indian captain Bala Devi pulled one back for her team in the 43rd minute, scoring with a header after Bangladesh goalkeeper Rupna Chakma failed to securely handle the ball.
