Tickets for the highly anticipated Glastonbury Festival 2025 sold out in just 35 minutes on Sunday, with over 200,000 festival-goers expected to flock to the world-renowned event in rural southwest England next year.

Sales opened at 9:00 AM (0900 GMT), and by 9:35 AM, organisers confirmed via the social media platform X that tickets had sold out. "Tickets for Glastonbury 2025 have now sold out. Thanks to everyone who bought one, and sorry to those who missed out, as demand was much higher than supply this morning," the organisers stated. They added, "There will be a resale of any cancelled or returned tickets in spring 2025."

The 2024 edition of Glastonbury saw British-Albanian pop star Dua Lipa and indie-rock icons Coldplay as headliners. Discussions are already underway to secure top acts for the 2025 festival, which will take place from June 25 to 29.

Since its inception in 1970, the festival has become a quintessential symbol of British summer. The iconic sight of thousands of tents spread across Worthy Farm in Pilton has come to represent the spirit of the festival, alongside its reputation for diverse music, arts, and culture. With around 3,000 performances scheduled across 80 stages, Glastonbury also features all-night parties, art installations, and lively parades.

The standard ticket for next year's event was priced at £373.50 ($471.50).

Inspired by the counterculture movements of 1960s Britain, Glastonbury began as the Pilton Festival in 1970, with glam rock band T.Rex as the first headliners. Since then, it has become a cultural institution, attracting major acts such as David Bowie, Paul McCartney, Stormzy, and Elton John, who performed his final UK gig at the festival in 2023.

Festival organiser Emily Eavis has announced that Glastonbury will take a break in 2026 to "give the land a rest," ensuring the continued sustainability of the iconic event for future generations.
