Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury today urged the Hindu community in Bangladesh to celebrate Durga Puja with enthusiasm and joy, assuring that the government has implemented comprehensive security measures for the festival.
“The Ministry of Home Affairs has taken various steps to ensure that Hindu devotees can celebrate Puja peacefully and without disruption,” he stated.
The home adviser made these remarks during an event organized by the Baridhara DOHS Puja Committee at the Baridhara DOHS Convention Centre in the city this evening, on the occasion of Maha Shasthi.
Jahangir Alam Chowdhury mentioned that eight directives have been issued to the field administration and law enforcement agencies. Additionally, police, RAB, and Ansar personnel have been deployed to maintain law and order during Durga Puja.
He also noted that Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has been stationed at the borders, while members of the army, navy, and air force have been deployed with magistrate power to ensure security during the celebrations.
The event was presided over by Baridhara DOHS Puja Committee President Major General (Retd) Jibon Kanai Das, with Senior Vice President of Baridhara DOHS Council Lieutenant Colonel (Retd) Akram Hossain attending as a special guest.
Lieutenant Colonel (Retd) Sri Chandra Kanta Das, Vice President of the Baridhara DOHS Puja Committee, read the greeting message, while Vice President Brigadier General (Retd) Jayanta Kumar Sen delivered the welcome address.
