Habibullah Bahar College Vice Principal Found Murdered at Dhaka Residence

Saifur Rahman Bhuiyan, vice principal of Habibullah Bahar College in Shantinagar, has been murdered in his rented home in Puran Para under Uttarkhan Police Station in Dhaka.

The killing took place early on Monday, said Ahmad Ali, deputy commissioner of Uttara Division under Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

"He was stabbed and locked inside the bathroom. He somehow managed to break the door and call for help", Ahmed said.

"It was early morning, and very few people were outside. Still, someone heard him, rescued him, and took him to a local hospital, where doctors declared him dead."

According to Ahmad, Saifur Rahman lived alone in the house. Two days ago, a man and a woman arrived and stayed at his residence. Police are searching for them.

"There are [injury] marks of locally made weapons on various parts of his body. The police are investigating the incident," Uttarkhan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Ziaur Rahman said.

According to locals, Saifur was initially rushed to a private hospital in Uttara and later shifted to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.

OC Ziaur said Saifur had been living in a rented house in the area since August or September last year. A few days ago, he brought home a woman and a youth, identifying them as his sister-in-law and nephew. During Sehri time on Monday, when Saifur went to the bathroom, those two individuals hacked him. Then they shut the bathroom door and fled. 

Later, Saifur managed to come out of there and went to the balcony in a bloody state, screaming for help. Noticing that, his landlord and other tenants rescued him and took him to the hospital. There, the doctor declared him dead, the police official said. 

Saifur had been separated from his wife who lives in ​​Shantinagar with their two children, the OC said. 

When she was informed about her husband's death, she refused to claim the body and also denied the police's request to go to the station, he added. 

 

The deceased body has been sent to the morgue at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital.
