The commission tasked with reforming the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has prepared a report containing 47 recommendations.
The report is set to be submitted to the chief advisor at 11:30 AM on January 15.
The ACC Reform Commission, led by Iftekharuzzaman, executive director of Transparency International Bangladesh, is one of six commissions established by the interim government, alongside commissions for the judiciary, police, and other divisions.
The eight-member commission began its work on October 3.
Iftekharuzzaman told bdnews24.com that the reform report is structured around two main areas: one focusing on direct reforms within the ACC and the other proposing structural changes to the state to ensure the reforms' success.
He also mentioned that the development and implementation of a national anti-corruption strategy will be integral to the reform process. However, he withheld specific details of the recommendations.
Further information will be made available after the report is presented to the chief advisor.
Sources suggest the report may include proposals to amend the ACC Chairman and Commissioner Appointment Act, along with suggestions to increase salaries and benefits for ACC officials as part of the recruitment process. Additionally, the report may recommend enhancing the independence and effectiveness of the ACC to bolster its status.
