Law advisor Asif Nazrul stated that the allegations against several journalists in the International Crimes Tribunal will be subject to "fair justice."
He made this remark in response to a journalist's question while inspecting the tribunal's renovation work on Tuesday evening.
Nazrul condemned the brutal actions of the previous 'fascist' government, stating, "We are consistently receiving reports of new victims, with thousands suffering serious injuries, and some left permanently disabled.
There is no precedent for such large-scale ‘genocide’ in the history of this subcontinent, he said. It is indeed rare globally, he added.
“I have inspected where justice for these crimes will be served."
Nazrul commended Public Works Advisor Adilur Rahman Khan for expediting the renovation work, expressing hope that historic trials will commence in the newly renovated building by Nov 1.
When asked about the journalists' allegations, Nazrul said: "We have a prosecution team. This is not a ministry task. The team will meticulously analyse the situation under legal procedures. We want to emphasise that there will be justice, but it will be fair justice."
Chief Prosecutor Muhammad Tajul Islam also announced that the judges have already assumed their roles. Regular judicial proceedings will begin on Thursday 10:30am.
