BNP Suspends Party Post of Sheikh Robiul Alam Robi Amid Murder Allegations
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has suspended Sheikh Robiul Alam Robi, a member of its central executive committee, due to his alleged involvement in the murder of Tanjil Jahan Tamim, a broadcast engineer at Deepto TV. The suspension will remain in effect until the case against him is resolved, according to BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
A notification regarding this action was sent to Robi from the BNP central office in Naya Paltan on Monday. Rizvi refrained from making further comments on the matter.
Previously, on October 11, the party issued a show-cause notice to Robi. Following his unsatisfactory response, the BNP opted for punitive measures.
The murder occurred on October 10 when Tamim, 32, was fatally beaten by several employees of Pleasant Properties Ltd., a real estate company, allegedly in collusion with hired thugs. The incident arose from a dispute over the handover of apartments in the Mohanagar Project in Rampura.
Robi, the owner of Pleasant Properties, reportedly had a long-standing feud with the landowner. Following the incident, Tamim's father, Sultan Ahmed, filed a case naming 16 individuals, including Robi, in connection with his son’s murder.
