Stocks on DSE up, down on CSE

The country's premier bourse, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), on Monday, witnessed an upward trend as investors continued their buying spree on large-cap issues amid optimism.

DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 2.17 points or 0.04 per cent to settle at 5,484.97. Two other indices also ended higher with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, rose 7.18 points to finish at 1,944.29 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 0.73 point to close at 1,203.43.

Out of 397 issues traded, 140 advanced, 191 declined and 66 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor. 

Daily trade turnover increased to Tk 6,622.46 million on the country's premier bourse, which was Tk 6,222.59 million at the previous session of the week.

ISNLTD was the day's top gainer, rising 9.93 percent, while LINDEBD was the worst loser, shedding 3 per cent. 

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with a downward trend with its major CASPI 29.01 points down at 15,632.05.

At the CSE, 246 issues were traded. Of those, 75 closed higher and 143 closed lower when 21.72 lakh shares worth about Taka 6.90 crore changed hands.
