An old video from a different event has been widely circulated, falsely claiming it to be footage of a recent meeting between former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and a UN team. Hasina was overthrown during the July 2024 uprising, and the video has been misrepresented as part of a meeting with the UN team in Delhi.

This misinformation was uncovered by BanglaFact, a fact-checking and media research unit affiliated with the Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB). The organization's investigation revealed that the video, originally from a civic reception held in London in 2023, was uploaded to social media and misrepresented as a meeting with the UN team in Delhi.

BanglaFact traced various social media posts that featured Sheikh Hasina's image from the London reception, wrongly linked to claims of a recent UN meeting in Delhi. These posts manipulated the same photo, originally used to welcome Hasina during the Awami League’s 2023 reception, to falsely portray a diplomatic encounter. Through their diligent research, BanglaFact exposed the misleading nature of the claims and emphasized the importance of verifying sources to avoid the spread of misinformation.
