The Election Reform Commission is actively working to secure voting rights for Bangladeshi expatriates around the globe, as reported by Commission Chief Badiul Alam Majumder during a meeting with Chief Adviser Prof. Muhammad Yunus in the capital on Monday.
To facilitate this initiative, the commission is aligning the voter registration process with national ID cards.
Majumder underscored the significance of women's participation in the electoral process, noting that efforts are underway to promote inclusivity. According to the Chief Adviser’s press office, the commission is utilising digital platforms to engage with stakeholders and gather their feedback.
Prof. Yunus also met with other commission heads at his Tejgaon office to assess the progress of various reform initiatives.
Police Reform Commission Chief Safar Raj Hossain announced that proposals are being developed to revise crowd control tactics, with certain provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898, currently under review for potential amendments.
Abdul Muyeed Chowdhury, Chief of the Public Administration Reform Commission, stated that their activities are in full swing, with public input being collected through their website. Commission members have been visiting districts and upazilas to engage directly with local communities, and ongoing discussions with various public administration representatives are taking place.
The Public Administration Reform Commission is optimistic about completing its report within the designated timeframe.
