The 57 Bangladeshi nationals pardoned by the United Arab Emirates, who were punished for protesting in solidarity with the Anti-discrimination Student Movement, are beginning to be repatriated.
The flight carrying the 14 of these pardoned individuals is expected to land at Dhaka's Shahjalal International Airport at 7pm, according to a statement issued by the chief advisor’s press wing on Saturday afternoon.
The same flight will then head to Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram at 10pm.
Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus shared the news of the pardons during a meeting at the State Guest House Jamuna on Tuesday.

Later, Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam told the media that the chief advisor had a telephone conversation with the UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Aug 28.
Yunus had requested the UAE president to pardon the expatriate workers, and the president kept his word.
On Jul 20, during protests in Dubai, Sharjah, and Ajman, UAE police detained 57 Bangladeshis.
Among them, three were sentenced to life in prison, 53 were ordered to be jailed for 10 years and one for 11 years.
Following this, the UAE suspended visa facilities for Bangladeshis indefinitely.
On Aug 11, Foreign Advisor Md Touhid Hossain said the chief advisor would discuss the release of detained expatriate Bangladeshis with senior UAE officials.
On Aug 12, Muhammad Mizanur Rahman, Bangladesh's ambassador to the UAE, said the government was considering hiring lawyers to assist with their release.
