Six killed, 10 injured as covered van hits pickup in Feni Six people were killed and 10 others injured after a covered van hit a pickup carrying workers on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Feni Sadar upazila on Monday evening.

The accident happened in the Dhaka-bound lane near South Maizbariya Hafezi Madrasa area.

The deceased bodies were identified as Md Arif, 22, son of Md Faruk from Hajirhat area of Monpura in Bhola; Mohiuddin, 35, son of Nur Alam from Char Faizuddin village in the same upazila; Nazmul Sheikh, son of Sabul Sheikh from Bagerhat’s Morrelganj upazila; Monir Hossain, son of Nur Hossain from Monpura; and Jobayer from Hatiya upazila in Noakhali. The identity of one more deceased remains unknown.

However, the bodies have been sent to Feni General Hospital.

Four critically injured victims were shifted to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, while others are receiving treatment at Feni General Hospital.

According to locals and eyewitnesses, the pickup carrying construction workers was heading toward Feni town when a covered van hit it from behind, causing the fatalities.

Mizanur Rahman, in charge of the Bogdadia police outpost, confirmed the news.
