Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has stressed the urgent need to restore people's voting rights, declaring that the BNP is committed to achieving this at any cost.

"Accountability is essential for political emancipation. In this regard, restoring people's voting rights is paramount, and BNP will ensure this no matter the obstacles," he said on Tuesday while addressing a workshop virtually as the chief guest at the Institution of Diploma Engineers in Kakrail, Dhaka.

The BNP acting chairman urged party leaders and supporters to remain vigilant against ongoing conspiracies. "A conspiracy is brewing somewhere in the country. Stay alert and ensure that the people are aware of it," he said.

He also encouraged party members to strengthen their connection with grassroots communities, reinstating the tradition of "Uthan Baithak" (yard meetings) to disseminate the BNP's 31-point reform agenda and foster public engagement.

Tarique Rahman criticised the ruling Awami League, describing it as an "autocratic regime" lacking accountability. He emphasized that BNP's core mission is to hold elected public representatives accountable to ensure good governance.

"When politics becomes sick, the economy follows, and eventually, all other sectors—education, security, and beyond—are affected. This is why ensuring accountability in governance is crucial," he said.

Highlighting the party’s commitment to reforms, Tarique Rahman said the BNP is open to suggestions beyond its 31-point reform agenda. "If anyone comes forward with better proposals, we will accept them. If BNP assumes power, it will prioritize implementing reforms to strengthen the nation," he assured.

In a notable directive, Tarique Rahman discouraged the use of titles such as "Desh Nayok" and "Rasthra Nayok" alongside his name, urging party members to focus on the mission rather than titles.

The event, chaired by the BNP Organising Secretary (Dhaka Division), underscored the party's resolve to promote grassroots engagement and political accountability while mobilizing efforts to restore democratic rights in Bangladesh.
