Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JaSaD) asserted that the significance of the Liberation War, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the historic 7th March speech, and the constitution of independent Bangladesh remains intact despite Sheikh Hasina's "autocratic rule."
In a statement released on Friday, party President Sharif Nurul Ambia and General Secretary Nazmul Haque Prodhan called for greater respect for the nation's history amid the current political climate.
The statement, signed by JaSaD’s Co-office Secretary Sajjad Hossain Sohag, expressed concern over recent comments made by government officials regarding the Liberation War and other historical events.
“We hope that responsible government officials will be more considerate in their comments about these matters and will respect the national pride associated with the great Liberation War and the struggle for independence,” it said.
The party leaders also expressed concern over the protests and ultimatums issued by a group of lawyers and students at the Supreme Court premises.
“If there are grievances against judges, it is essential to address them through proper channels rather than resorting to mass gatherings, as this would jeopardise the judiciary’s deteriorating state,” the leaders said.
They expressed hope that the student community would play a constructive role in fostering a conducive environment for democracy and justice in the country.
