BNP Calls for Cancellation of 43rd BCS Appointments

Express Report

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has called for the cancellation of the appointments of 2,064 cadre officers based on the final results of the 43rd Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination, which took place during the previous Awami League government.

Additionally, the BNP demanded the cancellation of all proceedings related to the 44th, 45th, and 46th BCS examinations.

BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed made these demands at a press conference held at the BNP Chairperson’s Office in Gulshan on Thursday..

“We strongly urge the interim government to immediately annul the gazette notification regarding the appointments made from the 43rd BCS results, conducted by a partisan commission during the oppressive Awami League regime,” he stated.

Salahuddin described the appointments as "suicidal," asserting that they represent a deception and betrayal of the students' sacrifices during the anti-fascist movement.

Addressing concerns about the 44th, 45th, and 46th BCS examinations, he noted, “We have learned that approximately 3,000 candidates out of 9,000 were called for the viva voce in the 44th BCS under the autocratic rule of Sheikh Hasina. The evaluation of the written tests for the 45th BCS is nearing completion, while the preliminary test for the 46th BCS was concluded three months ago.”

Salahuddin emphasized, “We demand a complete cancellation of the recruitment processes for these three BCS examinations to prevent the cadre forces of the fascist Awami League and its affiliate, the Chhatra League, from infiltrating the state administration. Failure to do so will compel the people of this country to resist the affiliates of the fascist government to ensure that the second independence achieved through the 'July-August' revolution is meaningful.”

He further stated, “There can be no compromise on this issue. All recruitment processes must be conducted transparently to restore public trust and confidence in government hiring practices.”

Regarding the recruitment of 803 Sub-Inspectors (SIs) awaiting their appointments, Salahuddin alleged that the Awami League government has selected these officers to assert its dominance over the police administration, claiming that 200 of them hail from Gopalganj and 403 are members of the Bangladesh Chhatra League.

He also accused the outgoing ruling party candidates of being recruited into the state administration without proper scrutiny.

BNP Chairperson's advisory council member Ismail Zabihullah was also present at the press conference.
