Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman has said that his party envisions a nation that will not accept the subordination of any external power or country.

"We want a country that will stand tall, like other nations across the globe. Inshallah, Bangladesh will achieve this," he declared Tuesday during his address as the chief guest at a workers' conference held at Abdul Quddus Makhan Poura Muktamanch in Brahmanbaria, organized by the district Jamaat-e-Islami, according to a press release.

"We will have friends abroad, but we will not accept any masters. If anyone attempts to dominate us, the nation will respond appropriately," he asserted.

The Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer emphasised that no other party has faced oppression to the same extent as theirs over the past 15 and a half years.

"However, we have stated that we will not seek revenge on anyone, nor will we take the law into our own hands," he continued. "While we want to forgive as a community, those who have committed crimes must face justice, as it is a fundamental demand."

He expressed a desire to establish a welfare state free from discrimination and exploitation, noting, "We have provided 41 recommendations, including 10 key demands for the interim government."

After the conference, Dr. Rahman visited the Jamia Yunusiya Madrasa in Brahmanbaria and later exchanged views with scholars at Jamia Sirazia Darul Uloom Madrasah.

Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General Maulana ATM Masum, along with Central Shura members Mohammad Abdus Sattar and Principal Kazi Nazrul Islam Khadem, spoke as special guests.

The meeting was chaired by Brahmanbaria District Jamaat Ameer Ghulam Farooq, with Secretary Muhammad Mubarak Hossain Akand serving as the conductor. Other notable speakers included former district Ameer Syed Golam Sarwar, District Nayebe Ameer Kazi Yakub Ali, Dhaka City North Jamaat publicity-media secretary Ataur Rahman Sarkar, former student leader Mesbah Uddin Ahmed Naeem, and Chhatrashibir President Md. Atiqul Islam Bhuiyan.
