BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed said that division cannot be imposed on the country by undermining the awakened non-communal spirit of the people.
“The awakened non-communal spirit will not permit any division within society. They will not succeed in creating the divides they have attempted under the guise of communalism and militancy for their benefit,” he said while visiting the Puja mandap at Jagannath Hall on the Dhaka University (DU) campus on Saturday.
The BNP leader emphasized, “This century-old festival (Sharadiya Durga Puja) has been celebrated for generations. The doors of this festival are always open. We can gather here at this altar of the festival, regardless of our different religions.”
He expressed that Hindus, Buddhists, and Muslims can come together during the festival, united in their commitment to communal harmony.
Rizvi noted that some groups in the recent past have propagated conflict for their own political agendas and personal interests, seeking to disrupt the communal harmony maintained by the people.
He urged everyone to remain vigilant to ensure that no one can fracture the communal bonds that unite individuals, regardless of caste, group, or religion.
Rizvi expressed hope that all could celebrate the ongoing Durga Puja festival with enthusiasm and joy, as the interim government is working to enhance the festival's enjoyment.
Among those present at the occasion were Adviser to the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Supradip Chakma, BNP Joint Publicity Secretary Asadul Karim Shaheen, Jubo Dal leader Mehbub Masum Shanto, and Chhatra Dal leaders Masudur Rahman and Raju Ahmed.
