One killed, eight injured in Gazipur factory fire

A man was killed and  eight  others were injured in a fire at a intelligent card manufacturing factory in Dhirashram Bararul area of Gazipur metropolis on Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Likhon Miah, 24, a resident of Gaibandha district. He was an employee of the factory.

Abdullah-Al Arefin, Deputy Assistant Director of Gazipur Fire Service, said the fire broke out  at the  intelligent card manufacturing factory  in  the Dhirasram Bararul  area following a blast while setting a machine around 1:45 pm this afternoon, leaving Likhon dead on the spot  and eight others injured, including  a Chinese national.

On information, two units of Joydebpur Fire Station rushed to the spot and doused the fire.

The injured were admitted to Gazipur Shahid Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital, he said.  

The seriously injured Lu was sent to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn & Plastic Surgery in Dhaka, officer-in-charge (OC) of Gazipur Sadar Police Station Mohammad Rafiul Karim said.
