Narayanganj police have raided the Jai Jai Din office in Karwan Bazar to arrest Sayeed Hossain Chowdhury, the Bengali newspaper’s editorial board president and publisher.

The raid was carried out around 11:45 pm on Monday on the HRC Bhaban, said Narayanganj's Superintendent of Police Pratyush Kumar Majumdar.

Founding editor of the Bengali daily Shafik Rehman went to Jai Jai Din’s Tejgaon office on Dec 15 following the change of the country’s political landscape and was greeted with flowers.

Alongside media, the HRC Group invests in agricultural products, tea, real estate, finance sector and shipping businesses.

Sayeed, a director of One Bank and a former Dhaka MP, is the brother of Awami League leader Saber Hossain Chowdhury. Their father Hedayet Hossain Chowdhury was the founder of Karnaphuli Group.
