Five DU teachers injured in attack by anti-quota protesters

They attack the teachers outside the university's medical centre

Five members of Dhaka University's proctorial body have been injured in an attack by quota reform protesters.

The injured teachers are Prof Mustafizur Rahman, Prof Abdul Muhit, Associate Prof Farzana Ahmed Shanta, Associate Prof Hasan Faruque, and Assistant Prof Mohammad Imaul Huq Sarkar.

The protesters attacked them outside the university's medical centre around 4:30pm on Tuesday, said Proctor Prof Maksudur Rahman.

The injured were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, he said.

According to witnesses, the protesters chased away proctorial body teachers attempting to remove outsiders at the Shaheed Minar area. Later, the teachers retreated after students attacked them, resulting in head injuries for some.
