15th martyrdom anniversary of slain army officers in Pilkhana massacre observed

The 15th martyrdom anniversary of the slain army officers in the barbaric killings at BDR (now BGB) headquarters, Pilkhana on February 25-26 in 2009 was observed on Sunday with due dignity.

On the occasion of the day, Major General S M Salahuddin Islam, Military Secretary to the President, on behalf of the President, paid deep tributes to the memory of the martyred army officers by placing wreaths at the graves of the martyrs at the Banani Military Graveyard.

On behalf of the Prime Minister, her military secretary Major General Kabir Ahmed paid homage to the martyrs by placing wreaths at their graves, said an ISPR release.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal; Chief of Army Staff General S M Shafiuddin Ahmed, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Nazmul Hassan, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Shaikh Abdul Hannan, Additional Secretary Mohammad Mokhlesur Rahman Sarkar on behalf of the Senior Secretary of the Public Security Division of Home Ministry, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Director General Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui, and family members of the martyrs paid glowing tributes to the martyred army officers.

After laying the wreaths, one minute silence was observed in honour of the martyrs while the serving military personnel gave a salute.

Later, prayers were offered seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of the martyrs.

Senior military officers of the Army, Navy and Air Force, JCOs and military personnel of other ranks, family members and close relatives of the martyrs were present on the occasion.

Besides, milad mahfil and special munajat were held in presence of army personnel of all ranks in the central mosque of all cantonments seeking eternal peace of the souls of the martyrs.
