Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, 54, was stabbed multiple times by an intruder at his Mumbai home on Thursday. However, doctors treating him have assured the public that he is out of danger following surgery.

Khan, who sustained injuries to his spine, neck, and hand, is now on the road to full recovery, according to his medical team. Dr Nitin Dange, one of the surgeons, shared, “He suffered a severe injury to his thoracic spinal cord from a knife lodged in his spine. Surgery was performed to remove the knife and repair the leaking spinal fluid.”

The attack occurred just after midnight when Khan confronted the intruder, believed to be attempting a robbery, at his high-end Bandra apartment. After stabbing Khan, the assailant fled the scene. A female employee of the apartment was also injured during the incident and is currently receiving treatment, police confirmed.

Khan, one of Bollywood’s most bankable stars, is the son of former cricket captain Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi and actress Sharmila Tagore. He is married to fellow Bollywood star Kareena Kapoor, and his daughter from a previous marriage, Sara, is also an actress.

Police have identified the perpetrator and initiated a manhunt. Senior police official Dikshit Gedam explained, “The accused attempted to enter through a fire escape, and it appears to have been a robbery attempt.”
