Govt To Ensure Justice for Anti-Discrimination Movement Martyr

Senior Secretary of the Public Administration Ministry, Dr. Md Mokhles ur Rahman, has affirmed that all those involved in suppressing the anti-discrimination movement, including members of the administration, will face consequences.

“The cases filed for the killings and injuries during the anti-discrimination student movement are currently under trial. The government is committed to ensuring justice, and you will see its outcome,” he stated while speaking to journalists after meeting the family of Abu Sayeed, a martyr of the movement, in Rangpur today.

Dr. Mokhles ur Rahman also mentioned that the United Nations is investigating the incidents related to the July movement, including the killings. “No one, including members of the local administration who opposed the movement, will be spared,” he added.

He further remarked that the nation would always honour Abu Sayeed's sacrifice, and the government would provide security to his family until the trial of his murder case was completed.

The secretary instructed the local administration to ensure the safety of Abu Sayeed’s family and provided them with Tk one lakh as support.

Also present were the Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Md. Rezaul Maksud Jahedi, Acting Divisional Commissioner of Rangpur Md Ajmal Hossain, and other senior officials.
