Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus announced Thursday that all political parties and stakeholders have unanimously agreed to finalize the proclamation of the July Revolution, emphasizing the importance of preserving its spirit and historical significance.

After an all-party meeting held at the Foreign Service Academy, Prof Yunus remarked, "We have collectively agreed to determine the name of the proclamation, regardless of what it is ultimately called. The agreement reached today is a milestone for our nation."

The interim government, led by Prof Yunus, convened the meeting with representatives from major political parties, including the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Jamaat-e-Islami, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, and the Nagorik Committee. The discussions were centred on finalising the framework and key elements of the proclamation to ensure that the essence of the July Revolution is documented for posterity.

Prof Yunus underscored the need for accurately capturing the events, aspirations, and revolutionary fervour of the July uprising. "It is crucial to record the unique aspects of this mass movement. Future generations should understand that this revolution was not an accident but a culmination of hopes, struggles, and sacrifices," he said.

Addressing the political leaders present, he added, "Today's gathering sends a powerful message to the nation. Despite our differences, we discussed a vital issue and reached a harmonious resolution."

The Chief Adviser also stressed the importance of chronicling the collective memories and sentiments of the uprising in the proclamation. "We must ensure that the dreams, enthusiasm, and sacrifices of the people during the uprising are immortalized. This document will serve as a beacon for the nation, reminding us of the unity and resilience that defined the July Revolution," he said.

Representatives of different political parties and bodies, including Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Jamaat-e-Islami, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and Nagorik Committee, took part in an all-party meeting over the July proclamation at the Foreign Service Academy in the city on Thursday.

Participants in the meeting shared their insights and suggestions, with many acknowledging the significance of crafting a proclamation that honours the past and inspires the future.
